As part of its educational mandate, CPI offers two post/pre-conference workshops focusing on themes of interest to trainees and other researchers. These workshops provide an interactive environment for people working in proteomics areas to enhance their knowledge through in-depth, focused tutorials taught by experts in the field. To facilitate an optimal learning environment, registration is limited to 10 students per workshop.

The tutorials will be given on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, 2008, before the CPI conference. The tutorial registration is open. You can choose different sessions (up to two, either day 1 or day 2) from different tutorials (maximum two). Space is limited to 10 students per workshop, so register early. The fees are $157.50 ($150.00+$7.50 GST) for one day and $315.00 for two days($300.00+$15.00 GST).

The tutorials include:

This tutorial focuses on FTICR-MS based methods and approaches for top-down and bottom-up proteomics, analysis of non-covalent protein complexes and metabolomics. We will provide hands-on training in different FTICR-MS techniques including LC-MS/MS for metabolite and peptide analysis. Numerous dissociation and combination techniques such as CID, ECD, and SORI will be described for detailed analysis of intact proteins and other bio-molecules. Novel protein separation approaches like FFE and sample preparation methods for metabolomics and native protein complexes will also be addressed.
